Henrico man faces charges after crash, foot pursuit in Augusta County

A Henrico man faces multiple charges following a crash and foot pursuit by Virginia State Police that occurred March 2 at the 236-mile marker on Interstate 81 northbound in Augusta County.
Dylan E. Peters, 18, was reportedly driving a 2013 Hyundai Elantra in the left lane of Interstate 81 northbound just before 9 p.m. when it struck the end cap of the guardrail. The crash caused significant damage to the vehicle, which was confirmed to have been stolen from Chesterfield County earlier that day.
Peters fled the Elantra on foot and later was arrested with the assistance of deputies from the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office.
He faces two counts of credit card larceny, a misdemeanor count of hit and run, one count of possession of Schedule IV substances, one count of operating without a license, one count of DWI-drugs, one count of grand larceny, and a count of being a pedestrian on an interstate.
Peters currently is being held at the Middle River Regional Jail in Staunton.
