Henrico County will begin its annual residential leaf collection on Monday, Nov. 4 and will offer both free and paid options for residents.

Free collection of bagged leaves will continue through Feb. 8, as crews work through five geographic zones of the county, covering each one twice. Residents outside the designated zones can call (804) 727-8779 to schedule a free pickup.

Curbside pickup for bagged leaves is unlimited, but bags must be free of trash and debris and accessible from the street. Residents should place bags out by 7 a.m. on the Monday of their collection week.

For the paid vacuum leaf pickup service, the county has contracted with Really Clean Streets, allowing residents to schedule pickups beginning Oct. 28 on the RCS website, with collections beginning Nov. 4. The service costs $30 per pickup and must be paid by credit card at the time of scheduling. Leaf vacuuming continues through Feb. 28.

Loose leaves for vacuum pickup should be placed curbside or at the road’s edge by Sunday evening before the scheduled pickup week. Like bagged leaves, they must be free of trash and debris. RCS will not refund orders if leaves are not ready when they arrive.

Residents also may dispose of bagged leaves at no cost at Henrico’s public use areas at 2075 Charles City Road and 10600 Fords Country Lane, from Nov. 4 through Feb. 8. Both areas are open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., excluding holidays.
