Henrico Humane Society will host its 24th annual Pet Expo Saturday, Feb. 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Richmond Raceway Complex, 600 East Laburnum Avenue.

The family- and pet-friendly event will include dog contests, a lure course, puppy and Corgi races, dog adoptions, an auction and other activities. More than 70 vendors will be on site selling pet-related products and services, from unique collars to toys and treats made for dogs, obedience trainers and more. CBS6 Richmond TV personality Greg McQuade is scheduled to emcee the event.

“The Pet Expo combines family fun with pet-friendly events and activities for everyone,” HHS Volunteer Manager and Event Coordinator Melissa Golden said. “As our flagship fundraising event for more than two decades, the Pet Expo enables us continue to rescue animals and provide the medical care and support so many of them need before they can be adopted.”

This is the second year HHS will host a “Paws for a Cause” online auction that allows participants to bid from the comfort of their devices. While auction items will be on display at Pet Expo, bidders do not need to attend the event to participate.

There also will be a 50/50 raffle, with tickets available for purchase online for $10 apiece or at the event. The raffle winner will be announced at the event, but attendance is not required to win. Last year’s winner took home more than $5,000.

Admission to Pet Expo is $8 online and $10 at the door; $5 for children ages 6-12; children under 6 and pets are free. All proceeds benefit Henrico Humane Society, which is a volunteer-run, foster-based, nonprofit organization that rescues dogs and cats from across Central Virginia and places them in permanent homes. It connected more than 200 dogs and cats to permanent homes in 2024.
