Henrico High School football player Samar Lemons suffered a broken neck during his team’s March 12 game against Douglas Freeman High School, and a GoFundMe page has been created in his name to help assist with anticipated significant medical bills.

“We believe that he will walk again and need YOU to believe it too,” organizers wrote on the page.

Lemons, a senior defensive back, was injured during a kickoff. He hopes to attend Old Dominion University in the fall and ultimately join the Army after college, according to the GoFundMe post.

“They have to begin aggressive physical therapy to gain some functionality in his arms but we need him to be healed from his head to his toes,” the organizers wrote.

The fundraising page was established late Sunday night and already had received nearly $13,000 as of late Monday morning.
