Table of Contents

Henrico County is in the midst of a four-week stretch during which it is hosting seven major recreational and professional sports tournaments.

Beginning last week with the USA Softball Eastern National Softball tournament (which concluded Sunday at Dorey Park) and continuing through Aug. 18, when the Gridiron Football Eastern Classic crowns a champion at Glover Park in Glen Allen, the county will witness high- level competition in six different sports.

The Bassmaster Eastern Open, a fishing tournament that launched from Osborne Landing, took place July 25-27. The MJBL Inner City Baseball Classic begins July 31 at various sites in the county and will conclude Aug. 4. The Flag Football World Championship Tour (East Coast Regional) will take place at Glover Park Aug. 3-4, followed Aug. 9-11 at the same location by the Harry Potter-inspired Major League Quidditch Championships.

Also Aug. 9-11 at the Glen Allen Softball Complex and Dorey Park softball fields, the International Senior Softball Association will host its world championships.

Last year, Henrico hosted more than 170 tournaments that generated more than $53.4 million in local spending, and it expects this year's total number of tournaments to top 180.
