A Henrico High School student was arrested on Tuesday afternoon after he allegedly brought a gun onto school grounds, Henrico Police said.
School staff members saw the boy arriving to school late and stopped him as he approached the building.
The student never made a threat against a person or the school, according to an email from Henrico High School Principal Karin Castillo-Rose.
School staffers, along with Henrico Police school resource officers, recovered the weapon and took the boy into custody.
He was arrested on charges of possession of a firearm on school property, concealed weapon, underage possession of a firearm, and possession of a stolen firearm.
Henrico Police officials are urging adults to ensure their firearms are secure and to discuss with children the repercussions associated with possessing guns.
