Henrico hazmat team awarded $86K grant

Henrico County has been awarded a federal grant in the amount of $86,114 for its hazardous materials team as part of the Homeland Security Grant Program.
The program funds will be administered by Virginia Department of Emergency Management, as part of an annual process to allocate more than $8.7 million through various federal grant programs to enhance emergency preparedness and security in the commonwealth.
Henrico's grant is part of an allocation of $2.5M for non-competitive grants from this year’s State Homeland Security Program to fund projects sustaining hazardous materials teams, technical rescue teams, incident management teams, radio communications caches, and the Virginia Fusion Center.
