Henrico firefighter to run 1,000 miles for suicide prevention

Table of Contents

Henrico firefighter Alex Hall will begin a 1,000 mile run on Memorial Day – May 28 – to support suicide prevention and mental health awareness.  The run is called the SOS 1,000 Mile Run and will raise funds for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.  Hall and his running partner, Thaddeus Meyer, will be running 1,000 miles together in 25 days, for an average of 40 miles per day.  They will run the entire Bruce Trail in Ontario, Canada from north to south, then continue on to run the Erie Canalway Trail in upstate New York from Buffalo to Albany.

The SOS stands for See Our Symptoms and the run has special meaning, since Meyer lost his own mother to suicide.  To learn more about the run, track the duo's progress or make a donation to the cause, visit www.sos1000milerun.com.
