Henrico Federal Credit Union officials want to provide a little stress relief for essential workers in the county, so they’re lifting four of them up – literally.

During each of the first four Mondays this month, the credit union is announcing a new winner in its hot air balloon raffle contest contest. The lucky essential workers selected will receive a free balloon ride provided by the credit union.

The first winner was Kathy Burgess, and the second was Megan Glass. The third will be announced June 15 at 6 p.m. on the HFCU Facebook page.

Henry Rosenbaum, Henrico County fire marshal and a board member for the credit union, came up with the idea and will be conducting the hot air balloon rides for the four workers who win the contest.

“I’ve been flying the balloon since 1988, so a little over 30 years,” Rosenbaum said. The balloon rides are a way to give back to the community and especially workers in the fields of law enforcement and public safety, trash collection and grocery store workers can sign up for the raffle, Rosenbaum said.

HFCU officials hope that the rides will provide stress relief for the workers and allow them to have a good time during the current health crisis, said Charity Rupp, the credit union’s marketing manager.

“Mentally we’re all stressed and we’re all trying to work through it, and this balloon ride provides that,” Rupp said.

The final winner will be announced June 22, also on the credit union's Facebook page.
