Henrico Education Foundation Chief Executive Officer Damon Jiggetts will step down this spring to become president and CEO of Access College Foundation in Norfolk, the organization announced this week.
“The board of directors deeply appreciates Damon’s leadership,” said HEF Board Chair Anne Poates. “His unwavering focus on our mission and dedication to cultivating relationships with donors and supporters of public education are commendable. Although we will miss him greatly, we wish Damon the very best as he works on behalf of students and families in Hampton Roads.”
HEF is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit that partners with Henrico County Public Schools to serve nearly 50,000 students in 75 schools. The organization works to bridge educational gaps by funding programs, supporting educators and ensuring that all students have access to learning opportunities.
Since joining HEF in July 2023, Jiggetts has collaborated with the foundation’s board of directors and staff to strengthen internal policies, enhance program operations and rebrand HEF initiatives to more accurately reflect their impact on individual classrooms, schools and the Henrico community, according to HEF officials.
Poates will serve as interim CEO while the board conducts a nationwide search for HEF’s next leader. A longtime advocate for public education, Poates is in her ninth year as an HEF Board member. She also has nearly 40 years of instructional and administrative experience with Henrico County Public Schools.
“Our experienced and dedicated staff will continue delivering critical programs and services without disruption,” she said. “HEF remains committed to its mission of providing resources and opportunities for Henrico County students and families.”
