Table of Contents

New COVID-19 cases in Henrico are at their lowest levels in exactly three months, according to Virginia Department of Health data.

The county is averaging 39 new daily cases during the past seven days – the same number it was averaging Aug. 1 – following three straight days fo just 40 or fewer new cases per day. Henrico has witnessed more than 70 new cases on a single day only twice since Oct. 16.

As a result of dropping case counts, Henrico Monday was downgraded from a “high” level of community transmission to a “substantial” level by the VDH – the first time it has been out of the highest range since late July. (VDH uses a four-level series of designations ranging from “low” to “high” to indicate the relative risk posed by the virus.)

All but about 30 of the state’s 136 localities remain in the “high” transmission level.

One new virus-related death in the county was reported during the weekend, but no new hospitalizations related to it were reported, according to the VDH data.

The county’s seven-day positivity percentages among PCR tests (4.5%) and rapid tests (4.1%) are lower than the state averages of 5.5% and 5%, respectively.
