Henrico down to just 55 new COVID-19 cases per day on average

Henrico County reported 68 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, according to the Virginia Department of Health. The seven-day moving average dropped to 55 daily cases.

There were no new hospitalizations related to the virus, but there were six new deaths, according to VDH data. The seven-day moving average of reported deaths reached 12 on Friday, but this increase is largely from backlogged death certificates from the post-holiday surge that are currently being processed.

The number of PCR testing encounters in Henrico County surpassed 300,000 this week, yielding an average positivity rate of 6.3 percent as of March 1, according to VDH data. The average positivity rate among antigen rapid tests leveled out to 6 percent. This data intentionally lags behind a few days to include as much testing information as possible.

There have been 176 reported outbreaks in Henrico, according to the VDH, with more than 3,400 associated COVID-19 cases. The number of outbreaks in the county is ranked third behind Fairfax County, with 329 outbreaks, and the City of Richmond with 197.

More than 16.5 percent of Virginia residents have been vaccinated with at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine, according to VDH data, with over 2.1 million vaccines administered across the state thus far. Hospitals and local health departments lead the state with the most vaccine doses administered by facility type.

In Henrico, 82,024 vaccines have been administered, according to the VDH. More than 53,000 Henricoans have received at least one dose of the vaccine, with 28,607 citizens having received both doses necessary for full inoculation.

As of March 1, the average amount of doses administered each day in the state of Virginia climbed to 53,604. On average, more Moderna vaccines have been administered than Pfizer. Vaccine data intentionally lags behind a few days to include as much information as possible.
