Henrico Doctors’ Hospital nurse practitioner Helen Willis has received the Education Award from the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners for outstanding contributions to NPs in the areas of education and patient care.
Willis serves as an NP in the cardiothoracic surgery department at HDH, where she also serves as a preceptor to many NP students each year.
She earned the award for her continued commitment to the education of VCNP members through conferences and preceptorship. She shares knowledge with students, nurses, medical staff, non-medical persons and patients to ensure understanding and growth, according to hospital officials.
