Henrico Christmas Mother accepting applications

The Henrico Christmas Mother program will accept applications in person on three remaining days this month. The program, which provides holiday assistance to qualified Henrico County families with children; seniors; and disabled adults, will accept applications at its warehouse, 361 Dabbs House Road in Henrico, on Monday, Oct. 16, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.; and Monday, Oct. 23, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Applications will be accepted for: families with school-age or younger children (school-age children must be enrolled in a Henrico County school or an equivalent GED program); seniors 65 and older; adults with a documented disability.

Applicants must reside in Henrico County and meet Henrico Christmas Mother income guidelines; may not apply for assistance from other organizations; must apply in person; must have the following forms of documentation: proof of Henrico County residency (a SNAP letter, utility bill or current lease with the applicant's name shown); birth certificates for each child on the application; proof of income (copy of a recent pay stub, or copy of Social Services notification for SNAP or TANF, or copy of child support award or copy of current Social Security benefit letter); proof of disability for each disabled adult on the application; proof of custody for children other than the applicant's own, such as court orders or custody papers.

A Henrico Christmas Mother representative will review the applications with applicants and verify the documentation.
