Henrico CASA’s third annual Home for Good Playhouse Event to benefit Henrico children begins Friday, April 21, at Short Pump Town Center.

The event features one-of-a-kind luxury playhouses built by Classic Construction, DPR Construction, Loughridge & Company, Urbancore Construction, and W.M. Jordan Company, as well as one built by students at Henrico’s Career and Technical Education program. These playhouses will be on display at Short Pump Town Center from April 21 through May 7.

“Child abuse and neglect is a difficult subject – especially when you realize that families are in crisis all around us,” said Kristin Blalock, Henrico CASA’s community engagement coordinator. “None of us want to dwell on the darkness that these children experience. That is why it is so important for us to use this event to raise awareness. It is a joyful event that focuses on what childhood should be and what childhood can be for these children when CASA intervenes. Playhouses are the perfect visual of a safe, happy, and healthy childhood.”

Last year’s Home for Good event raised more than $95,000 for Henrico CASA, allowing the organization to serve 100% of the 329 vulnerable children referred to them for advocacy services. Financial support for this event comes in the form of sponsorships from the business community and donations by individual supporters. Cross Timbers Roofing, Pearson Signature Dealerships, and more than 40 other companies sponsored this year’s event.

While on display, the public will have an opportunity to win a playhouse by making $5 donations to Henrico CASA. Winners will have a playhouse delivered to their house in May. Donate to win at www.HenricoCASA.org/Playhouse/.
