Henrico brewery to participate in Virginia Spirits Month kick-off event Aug. 29

A Henrico brewery will join 20 Virginia distilleries to participate in a kick-off event Aug. 29 to mark September as Virginia Spirits Month.
The Virginia Distillers Association will host the third-annual Virginia Craft Spirits Roadshow from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. that day at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, 200 North Boulevard in Richmond.
Strangeways Brewing of Henrico is one of six local participants and is the only brewery in the state scheduled to participate.
Virginia is the birthplace of America’s spirit industry, dating from the first batch of corn-made whiskey produced in 1620. The state is home to more than 70 licensed distilleries, more than Kentucky or Tennessee.
Tickets to Wednesday's event are $30 and include tastings, cocktails and brews from all participants.
