Henrico Area MHDS to celebrate 50 years of service

Henrico Area Mental Health & Developmental Services will host a free, public event Monday, Sept. 23 at its new East Center, 39008 Nine Mile Road, from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to recognize its 50 years of service.
Each year, the agency provides intellectual and developmental disability, early intervention, prevention, mental health and substance use services to about 10,000 individuals from Henrico, New Kent and Charles City counties.
The event also will include tours of the new facility, remarks from officials and refreshments
A brief program, beginning at 3:30 p.m., will include remarks by Board of Supervisors Chairman Tyrone E. Nelson (Varina District); County Manager John A. Vithoulkas; Henrico Area Mental Health & Developmental Services Board Chairwoman Jessica Young Brown; and Henrico Area Mental Health & Developmental Services Executive Director Laura S. Totty.
