Henrico’s COVID-19 case count is up to 291, according to data released this morning by the Virginia Department of Health. That’s 24 official new cases since yesterday’s update, though in general the total number of cases statewide is believed to be higher, since many people don’t display symptoms and many others with symptoms have not been tested.

Four more residents of the Canterbury Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Henrico’s West End died of the virus yesterday, bringing the total number of deaths among residents there to 32 and making it one of the worst outbreaks in the nation.

Statewide, of the 2,000 new test results reported this morning, about 16 percent tested positive – an increase from recent patterns. In total, the state has now reported 30,645 test results, with nearly 12 percent of those tested turning up positive (3,645 in total). Six-hundred fifteen people are hospitalized with the virus, and 75 deaths have been reported in the state.
