Henrico County has set another new record high for new COVID-19 cases reported in a single day, with 159 reported Wednesday. Since Saturday, the county has witnessed 730 new confirmed cases, according to the Virginia Department of Health – nearly 8% of all cases reported in the county during the pandemic.

Also reported Wednesday: six deaths attributed to the virus, all among people 80 or older, and six new virus-related hospitalizations.

Henrico is now averaging 127 new daily cases of COVID during the past seven days, up from an average of 68 cases a day just six days ago.

Despite the rising case counts, Henrico’s positivity percentage among PCR tests conducted during the week ending Dec. 5 has dropped just slightly, from 8.1% Dec. 4 to 8%. The county is now averaging about 1,150 PCR tests daily.
