Henrico again sets 2-day record for new COVID cases, even as testing encounters decline

Henrico County has again set a new high for its most confirmed new cases of COVID-19 during a two-day period, with 203 Tuesday and Wednesday. The Virginia Department of Health reported 70 news cases Wednesday and increased from 113 to 133 the number attributed to Tuesday.

The county has experienced an average of more than 84 new daily cases during each of the past seven days, according to the VDH. Henrico witnessed three new deaths attributed to the virus Wednesday as well, following two on Tuesday. Two new hospitalizations were reported Wednesday after 12 had been attributed to the virus Tuesday.

Henrico’s 7-day positivity percentage was 5.7% as of Nov. 20, up from 5.2% the previous day. Earlier this week, the county was averaging more than 1,360 COVID tests per day during the most recent seven-day period, but that average now has dropped to about 1,100, according to the VDH.
