Table of Contents

As Virginia went into lockdown to slow the spread of COVID-19, the 16 ABC stores in Henrico County reported an increase of about 25% in total sales during the month of March, when compared with February sales totals. That average then decreased by about 12.5 percent during the month of April.

The store on 10242 Staples Mill Road in Glen Allen saw the highest increase in sales from February to March – from nearly $165,000 in February sales to more than $247,000 during March – 44 percent more than in March 2019.

Every store in the county reported an increase of at least 15 percent in March except for the store on Pump Road in Short Pump, which sold about 11 percent more.

The ABC location at 4320 South Laburnum Avenue in Eastern Henrico reported an increase of about 19 percent but was the only store in the county to sell less in March and April than it did March and April of last year.

Though most Henrico ABC stores reported considerably higher sales numbers this April than they did in April 2019, sales at all but 3 stores went down between the first and second month of quarantine.

Among those three, sales at the John Rolfe Parkway location increased by about 5 percent, those at the store at 3816 Mechanicsville Turnpike increased by about 3 percent, and sales at the 11252 Patterson Avenue ABC increased by only $83.

Fourteen of Henrico's ABC stores experienced their highest monthly sales totals during the past 16 months in December; the two that didn't – 6030 Brook Road (March) and 3816 Mechanicsville Turnpike (April) experienced theirs during the pandemic.
