Henrico Schools will hold its 2019 Family Learning Night at Henrico High School March 19 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

“Family Learning Night: Let’s Make it Happen” aims to engage, inform and empower parents and guardians through an evening of parenting workshops and discussions, family-oriented information tables and fun. Tabletop workshop sessions will cover a host of topics, including preparation for testing; mentoring; reading on the go; learning strategies; help with planning for life after high school; and services and resources for students with disabilities moving into adulthood.

The event will feature a special session on social media and its effects on students. There will also be vendors with tables featuring information on topics of interest to families, such as academic support, camps and summer jobs. Light snacks and a kids’ zone will be available.

No registration is required for the event, but there will be a sign- in table, and the school with the highest percentage of attendees will win a morning breakfast or a lunchtime dessert party for its staff. Door prizes will be given away, courtesy of Amazon.

The event is presented by Henrico Schools’ Department of Family and Community Engagement.

The full schedule of the event:

• 5:30-6:30 p.m. – Vendor information tables (gym)
• 6:30-7:30 p.m. – “Social media and HCPS kids: Did you know?”
• 7:30-8:30 p.m. – Table-topic workshops (participants will have time to rotate through three tables)
