According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among women. However, early detection through mammography significantly improves survival rates, with a five-year survival rate of 99% for early-stage cases. Mammography is credited with contributing to a nearly 40% reduction in breast cancer mortality in the US since 1990.

HCA Virginia is offering Pink Power Hours at eight locations – including one in Henrico – on Saturdays and Sundays throughout October. Interested patients can schedule an appointment by calling (877) 319-7744.

The Henrico location – the Advanced Breast Center for Women at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital-Sarah Cannon Cancer Network, located at 7607 Forest Avenue – will offer mammograms on Oct. 5 and 19, from 8 a.m. to noon on both days.

The American Cancer Society recommends annual mammograms for women starting at age 40.
