Hayes named 2020 Henrico Christmas Mother

The Henrico Christmas Mother organization has named longtime volunteer Jean Hayes of the Tuckahoe District as the 2020 Henrico Christmas Mother.
Hayes has volunteered with the organization since 2012, serving on the Toy Committee since 2013.
Hayes, a registered nurse, moved to Henrico in 1981, worked at Richmond Memorial Hospital and then spent 23 years as a nurse with Henrico County Public Schools. Since her retirement, volunteering has become her passion.
Her three children attended Jackson Davis Elementary, Tuckahoe Middle and Freeman High. She is the grandmother of four.
“Henrico County has touched my family in so many ways and therefore has been an integral part of our lives,” she wrote in an announcement of her new role.
The Henrico Christmas Mother organization is a nonprofit that provides food, new clothing, books, and toys to qualifying Henrico families, disabled adults and seniors during the holiday season.
