For the second straight year, a team from Hawaii claimed the 13-and-under Babe Ruth Baseball World Series at Glen Allen Stadium at RF&P Park.

An all-star team from Oahu defeated a team from Tallahassee-Leon, Florida in the championship game, 7-6, to win the title Aug. 19. The Oahu team finished the tournament with just one loss in its seven tournament games (a 4-2 decision to Eagle Pass, Texas in pool play).

Last year, a team based in Honolulu won the championship.

The host Glen Allen team got off to a 3-0 start in pool play, including wins against Greeley-Evans, Colorado (16-1), Eagle Pass (4-3) and Janesville, Wisconsin (3-2) before dropping its final pool play game to Oahu, 11-2.

Then in the first round of championship play, Glen Allen lost to eventual runner-up Tallahassee-Leon 6-4, which dropped the team into a consolation bracket. There, it defeated Virginia state champion Arlington 6-5 before losing in a rematch with Janesville, 6-2, to finish in sixth place in the 10-team tournament.
