None of the 145 GRTC employees tested for COVID-19 Monday have the virus, company officials announced Friday.

GRTC’s first voluntary, on-site testing event took place June 8 and was conducted by SecureHealth, a regionally owned and operated urgent care provider. O

“I am both relieved and incredibly pleased with the on-site testing results this week,” said GRTC CEO Julie Timm. “These results are highly encouraging that we are keeping the right focus on protecting the health of our staff through pro-active quarantine, higher levels of cleaning, added PPE, and greater social distancing of staff.”

The majority of GRTC’s previous 13 cases reported relatively mild symptoms or none at all when tested for COVID-19, which is why the company is using on-site testing to screen for asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic infections. The next onsite testing event will be June 18.

The company’s 13th confirmed case was announced Monday; that employee was not believed to be connected to any previous staff cases and last worked June 5. The employee is reporting mild symptoms.

GRTC is paying for all virus testing that its employees undergo, whether on site or off.
