Greater Richmond Medical Reserve Corps receives national award

The Greater Richmond Medical Reserve Corps recently won a national award from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services’ Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response, given in recognition of National Volunteer Week.
Greater Richmond MRC Unit (which serves the counties of Henrico, Charles City, Goochland, Hanover, New Kent, and the city of Richmond) won the award for Community Preparedness and Resilience.
The award was presented to just two units in the country for their demonstrated contributions to reduce vulnerabilities, build resilience, and improve public health preparedness in their communities.
“We’d like to say thank you and congratulations to all the MRC volunteers and our community partners who gave their time and energy to keep our communities healthy, safe, and resilient,” said Greater Richmond MRC Unit Coordinator Alyssa Lewis.
