Goodwill encouraging decluttering, donations during '12 Days of Christmas' challenge

Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia is partnering with Richmond Family Magazine for the "12 Days of Christmas" Donation Challenge, encouraging community members to declutter and donate gently used items throughout the holiday season.

Now through Dec. 12, participants are invited to gather 12 gently used items and drop them off at any Goodwill Attended Donation Center in Central Virginia. Participants are then encouraged to share a photo of their donations on social media, tagging both Richmond Family Magazine and Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia on Facebook and Instagram. One donor will receive a $250 Goodwill gift card.

The organizations hope the challenge will encourage holiday giving and decluttering while highlighting the importance of Goodwill's mission. Donations fund programs offering job training, employment, and empowerment to those seeking a better future.

Goodwill also will be distributing limited quantities of reusable bags at select donation centers to those participating in the challenge.
