Godwin student wins National Merit Scholarship

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced recently approximately 550 additional winners of National Merit Scholarships financed by colleges and universities, including one winner from Henrico County.

Annagrace Hamson of Godwin H. S. was awarded the National Merit Harvey Mudd College Scholarship, and will pursue a probable career field of biological engineering.  Harvey Mudd College is a highly selective college of engineering and science in California.

This final group of winners brings the number of 2018 National Merit Scholars to more than 7,500 high school graduates who will receive scholarships for undergraduate study worth a total of more than $31 million.

NMSC, a not-for-profit corporation that operates without government assistance, was founded in 1955 to conduct the National Merit Scholarship Program. Over the past 63 years, more than 338,000 outstanding young men and women have won National Merit Scholarships worth over $1 billion.
