A 16-year-old Mills Godwin High School student has penned a poem about the COVID-19 virus and its impact on daily life.

Alyssa Trull was inspired to write the poem to express her feelings about the pandemic. She titled it “The Silent Virus.”

* * *

As if misfortune had flicked a switch, our world confronted a major glitch.

Clutching the Earth with its filthy hands,
this virus is dreadfully loathed across all lands.

Isolated in our own homes,
we hide away while the killer roams.

Silently creeping among its helpless victims,
the virus rapidly spreads its atrocious symptoms.

If unable to defeat this dreadful foe,
can medical professionals promise tomorrow?

Tireless heroes working day and night,
they inspire others to join the fight.

People from all around do their part,
supporting each other from the heart.

With our world united,
courageous minds and spirits are ignited.

This virus, though it may be a horrendous event,
highlights the benevolent deeds our world underwent.
