Henrico's Glover Park will host a four-team Australian football exhibition tournament Saturday, April 6.

The 2019 Hardywood USAFL Mid-Atlantic Cup will include the RVA Lions (ranked 44th nationally) and three other teams from the region (the NC Tigers, the Baltimore Dockers and the DC Eagles).

The event is free and open to the public. Lions officials anticipate making the event an annual one.

“We’ve taken our first ‘home carnival’ opportunity and elevated it to an exhibition tournament concept," club president and founder Darren Green said. "This will become an annual mid-Atlantic season-opening event hosted here in our Greater Richmond region. This is a strategic way not only get the word out about our club but also to help educate our local region as to what Aussie Rules is all about and what we collectively have to offer – not only in terms of the sport, but as a broader positive, inclusive, goodwill-building international community.”

The first game will begin at 11 a.m., and an after-party and tournament presentations will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hardywood Park Craft Brewery in Goochland.
