The Glen Allen Youth Athletic Association and Henrico County are hosting the 13-year-old Babe Ruth League World Series at RF&P Park and Glen Allen High School Aug. 9-17. It's the third consecutive year in which Glen Allen has hosted the event and the seventh time since 2007.

Eleven teams from throughout the nation will join the Glen Allen team for the tournament. The host team is scheduled for pool play games Aug. 9 at 7 p.m. against North Providence-Smithfield, Rhode Island; Sunday, Aug. 11 at 10 a.m. against Greater Wenatchee, Washington; and Monday, Aug. 12 at 7 p.m. against Schererville, Indiana at 7 p.m.

Teams will be seeded following their pool play games and then begin a double-elimination bracket, concluding Sunday, Aug. 17 with the championship game at noon.

Other teams include Atlantic Shore, New Jersey; Altamonte Springs, Florida; Williston Moose, North Dakota; Auburn, Alabama; Oahu, Hawaii, Winchester, Virginia; Lutz, Florida; and Easton Youth, Massachusetts.

Most of the Glen Allen players also played together on all-star teams that reached the 10-year-old and 11-year-old Cal Ripken League World Series tournaments.

Admission to the tournament is free for children 5 and younger, $125 for a weekly family four-pack, $40 for an individual weekly pass, and $10 for a daily individual pass. Any current Glen Allen Youth Athletic Association players wearing their GA uniform jersey will be admitted to the Glen Allen team's games for free.
