The Glen Allen 13-year-old Babe Ruth Baseball all-star team jumped out to a quick start at the 13-year-old World Series, a 10-team tournament that it is hosting at Glen Allen Stadium at RF&P Park.
The team dominated its first opponent in pool play, Greeley-Evans, Colorado, 16-1 Aug. 12, and followed that up by edging Eagle Pass, Texas, 4-3 the following day. (Eagle Pass had defeated Janesville, Wisconsin 3-2 the night before.)
Glen Allen has Monday off, then will conclude its four pool play games in its American division by facing Janesville on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and Oahu, Hawaii on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Once pool play has concluded Wednesday, teams in the American and National divisions will be seeded based upon their records and then will begin the single-elimination portion of the tournament. Should Glen Allen win its pool play bracket, it would have a bye until Friday at 4 p.m.
The tournament concludes with the championship game Saturday at 4 p.m.
