Freeman HS officials to host online forum July 14 about potential nickname change

Douglas S. Freeman High School will host a moderated panel to discuss the “Rebels” mascot and nickname at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The panel is meant to “bring voice to the discussion of what ‘rebels’ means to our community,” according to a post from the school, and audience members will be able to submit questions to the moderator, Jonathan Zur, president and CEO of the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities.
