Former VCU basketball standout found safe in North Carolina

A former VCU basketball standout who had been reported missing from Henrico County Monday was found safe in North Carolina Wednesday.

William “Rob” Brandenberg had been reported missing by his girlfriend Monday afternoon. She had urged Henrico Police to document him as a missing person because of the “unusual nature” of his leaving without any further communication, and also because of a note that he had left behind.

He was found in North Carolina Wednesday, but police did not have any additional comment about his condition other than to say he was safe.

“We know this positive news of Rob being found safe brings relief to many in our community, especially his family and loved ones,” Henrico Police Lt. Matt Pecka said in a statement.
