The former director of Henrico County’s Recreation and Parks Division, who left his job last summer under mysterious circumstances after just three months, has been arrested in an underage sex sting in Georgia, according to Fox 5 Atlanta.

Patrick Nalley, who served in his Henrico role from April 27 to July 28, 2022, was arrested in Cobb County, Goergia (just northwest of Atlanta) Aug. 15 on felony charges of child enticement and obscene internet contact with a child, according to the station. Police allege that Nalley had traveled that day to meet someone he believed was a 14-year-old girl but who actually was a police officer.

Nalley was employed for about three months as the parks and recreation director for the city of Brookhaven, Georgia, a 55,000-population locale about 11 miles north of Atlanta. He had reportedly made contact with the undercover officer during business hours and was driving a city vehicle when he was arrested, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

The city immediately fired Nalley upon learning of his arrest, the station reported. Nalley had no criminal background and had passed multiple background checks in Brookhaven, it reported.

The reason for Nalley’s unexpected exit from Henrico last summer was unclear at the time; officially, he resigned, but multiple county employees told the Citizen that he had been escorted from his office on his final day. Henrico County Manager John Vithoulkas told the Citizen at the time that he couldn’t comment on Nalley’s short tenure because it was “personnel-related.”

Nalley had come to Henrico after holding a similar role in Amherst County, Virginia.
