UPDATE: MAR. 3, 11 A.M. – An Oklahoma-based marketing company has purchased the site of the former Colortree Group printing facility in northern Henrico and will invest $31 million to create 239 direct-mail jobs there, state and company officials announced this morning at a press conference.

Moore DM Group will manufacture envelopes at the site at 8000 Villa Park Drive and also will conduct some direct-mail services there. The location will be known as Richmond Print Group. Moore selected Henrico over locations in Maryland and Massachusetts.

“We are pleased to welcome Moore to Virginia, and we are grateful for the company’s dedication to tapping into our talented workforce and revitalizing this facility,” Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam said in a statement.

Moore operates 33 companies and has more than 2,000 employees.

Company officials said that they would seek to hire many of the 240 employees who lost their jobs in direct mail marketing when Colortree abruptly closed its doors early last June. Colortree reached a deal with those employees in December to allocate $500,000 toward reimbursement, about a third of which went to pay attorneys who represented the workers. The company failed to provide employees with a required federal 60-day termination notice.

Villa Park Properties LLC, a holding company, purchased the Villa Park site Jan. 23 for $12 million, according to county property records. The seller was 8000 Villa Park Drive LLC, a holding company tied to NewLine Hardscapes, a concrete supplier that purchased the site for $11 million slightly more than four years ago.
