The inaugural JetBlue flight from Richmond International Airport to Los Angeles International Airport departed RIC Friday, leaving to some local fanfare.

Among those in attendance to celebrate the occasion – the first nonstop flight to Los Angeles in the airport’s history – were (behind ribbon, from left)Jennifer Wakefield and Bobby Ukrop, of the Greater Richmond Partnership; Jack Berry, of Richmond Region Tourism, Perry Miller, the CEO of Richmond International Airport; Brian Anderson, of Chamber RVA; and Kelly Clark, the general manager of JetBlue. They were joined by JetBlue crew members and RIC Operations officials.

On Sunday, the airport will witness another first, when JetBlue begins nonstop service to Las Vegas.

The airline announced the additional routes in September.
