When the Virginia Air National Guard moved to Langley Air Force Base, it left an A-7 Corsair behind at Richmond International Airport. The plane now will be moved to the Virginia Transportation Museum in Roanoke.

The A-7 Corsair is a low-level fighter/bomber that was introduced in 1965 and saw action until 1991. The aircraft being moved belonged to the 149th Fighter Squadron when it was located in Sandston.

Retired Senior Master Sergeant Archie Sours Jr. and a team of nine other retired members of the Virginia Air National Guard have disassembled the wings, tail, horizontal stabilizers and all lines connected to the fuselage in preparation for the move. They are working closely with a team from the Virginia Transportation Museum to safely move the plane.

The move was cancelled last weekend due to weather and could be delayed further due to upcoming inclement weather.
