Fifty-year supporter honored by United Way

Among the volunteers and corporate partners honored at the Sixth Annual Steps to Success Awards was Karen Whelan, who received the Leadership Champion Award.
Hosted by the United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg, the June 5 event was held at the John Marshall Hotel in Richmond.
Whelan, a long-time Henrico resident until her recent move to Goochland County, has supported United Way as a volunteer and donor for more than 50 years. She is also a Henrico County Master Gardener and a volunteer with the Master Gardeners' community education programs.
