Henrico's fifth fatal crash in two weeks claimed the life of a 35-year-old Glen Allen man Oct. 29.

It happened at about 7:47 p.m. along the eastbound side of Staples Mill Road near Warren Road, when a car struck a pedestrian just west of the intersection, according to Henrico Police.

The driver, who was not injured, remained at the scene and cooperated with police. The victim, Robert Wayne Dalton, Jr., was taken to a hospital but later died.

The crash remains under investigation.

Henrico Police officials are encouraging the public to wear bright or reflective clothing and to cross roadways at an intersection.

With Halloween events and trick-or-treating this weekend, they're also urging extra caution from drivers and pedestrians.
