The family of Julia Budzinski, a 17-year-old Glen Allen High School student who died in a boating accident in the James River July 2, has established a scholarship fund in cooperation with the Henrico Education Foundation.

The Julia Budzinski Memorial Scholarship Fund will honor Budzinski’s life and legacy by supporting the students and community of Glen Allen High School and beyond. Details about the fund will be announced at a later date, according to the organizers.

Budzinski, the daughter of Toronto Blue Jays’ first base coach and former University of Richmond baseball standout Mark Budzinski, is being remembered by friends and family for her positivity, humility, fierce competitiveness, hard work and the deep impact she had on those around her. She has been described as a talented athlete, bright student and someone with uplifting energy who loved her faith, family, friends and community.

Contributions to the fund may be made online, and checks may be made payable to Henrico Education Foundation (include The Julia Budzinski Memorial Scholarship Fund in the memo line) and mailed to Henrico Education Foundation, P.O. Box 31413, Henrico VA 23294.
