The Faison Center will dedicate the Flo and Tony Guzman Community Center May 21 at 10:30 a.m. Mike Rhoades and some of the VCU basketball players will attend the dedication ceremony, as will Todd "Parney" Parnell and Nutzy of the Flying Squirrels.

Located on Faison's campus at 1701 Byrd Avenue in Henrico, the 10,000-square-foot building provides additional space for health and fitness- related activities for the children and adults served by the Center, and will also serve as a conference center to host events and large meetings.

"We are very excited to open this new building for our kids and adults and to the community," said Brian McCann, president and CEO of The Faison Center. "Within the autism community, there needs to be a greater focus on health, wellness, exercise and diet, [and] this space gives us the opportunity to expand our physical activities. We are also looking forward to hosting presentations, conferences and other meetings in this state-of-the art building that will have the ability to seat close to 400 people.

"We really hope other groups in the community, not just those related to autism, will be able to use the space for their large gatherings."
