Henrico-based Elephant Insurance recently announced plans to have the majority of its 630 employees (most of whom are based here) work remotely until at least July 31, 2021.

“The most important thing we can do as an employer is to keep our employees safe,” said Alberto Schiavon, CEO of Elephant Insurance. “With the uncertainly of the pandemic into the first half of the year, we wanted to plan ahead to provide clarity and consistency for all our employees, especially working parents. The feedback from our team so far is that they are appreciative of the decision and the concern for safety above all else.”

While remote, Elephant officials are spending time looking at the future of the workplace and is surveying employees to learn how they feel about working from home, now and in the future.

While most Elephant employees have been working remotely since mid-March, customer service levels have remained in the excellent range with zero service outages for its customers.

Elephant did reopen its headquarters after Labor Day to allow for a small number of essential employees to return to the office.
