Eastern Henrico town hall meeting Sept. 1 to address school issues, challenges

Henrico officials will discuss issues related to education in Eastern Henrico during a town hall meeting Sept. 1 at Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

The meeting, hosted by Fairfield District School Board representative Roscoe Cooper III, who also is the pastor of the church, will address ways to improve support for schools and families in the region.

In addition to Cooper, the meeting will be attended by Henrico Schools Superintendent Amy Cashwell, Henrico County Manager John Vithoulkas and other leaders and administrators from the school division.

Discussion will focus on:

• Academic performance and achievement gaps;

• Addressing perceptions and inequities in Henrico County Public Schools;

• Understanding parents’ challenges and needs;

• Identifying resources to support families and students at home and at school.

The meeting will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the church, located at 2705 Hartman Street in Henrico.
