The driver of the tractor trailer that overturned in western Henrico last night has been charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain proper control, Virginia State Police said this morning.

At about 7:12 p.m. Jan. 30, the 2000 International Tractor, which was hauling granite or marble on a flatbed trailer, crashed at the northbound I-295 exit on Interstate 64 eastbound (Exit 53B) in Henrico as it approached the curve. The tractor trailer ran off the road and then overturned completely, spilling its load and trapping the driver. Rescue crews extracted the driver, who was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Speed is being considered a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
