The Virginia Capital Trail Foundation invites riders and spectators to Dorey Park this Saturday, May 11, for the 14th annual “Cap2Cap” bike ride fundraiser and outreach event. The non-competitive bike ride serves as the largest annual fundraiser for VCTF and hosts nearly 1,800 cyclists.

Cap2Cap offers participants four different options for ride distances: a 7-mile, 23-mile, 52-mile, and 100-mile ride. Every route is fully supported by support and gear trucks as well as police and EMT, with rest stops providing refreshments, basic first aid and bike support, and restrooms approximately every 10 miles along each route.

Registration for the event includes official Cap2Cap 2019 t-shirt, water bottle, drawstring bag, a ticket for one free Hardywood beer and lunch catered by Everyday Gourmet. After the ride, cyclists and the general public can enjoy free admission to the “Post-ride Party” presented by Quirk Hotel, which features a vendor expo, live bands, lunch, food trucks and beer. Everyone is welcome to come and celebrate the Capital Trail.

“We are so excited to be in Dorey Park in Henrico for our Cap2Cap Bike Ride,” said Cat Anthony, VCTF executive director. “Henrico County has been a great partner to the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation, so it is a perfect fit.”

This year’s ride is organized in partnership with Henrico's Recreation and Parks department.

“I'm absolutely thrilled the Cap2Cap is moving back to Henrico and look forward to hosting the riders and supporters at Dorey Park,” said Neil Luther, director of Henrico Recreation and Parks. “The Capital Trail has been a fantastic addition to the Route 5 corridor, and we couldn't ask for a better partner and advocate than the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation in showcasing the Trail for the hundreds of thousands of users who enjoy its benefits each year."

Online registration has closed, but walk-up registration will be available May 10 at packet pickup locations (Hardywood Park Craft Brewery in Richmond and The Corner Pocket in Williamsburg from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.) and at the Dorey Park venue before the ride, starting at 6:30 a.m. Saturday.
