CVS Health to begin offering COVID-19 vaccinations at some Richmond-area locations Feb. 11

UPDATE: Feb. 4, 2021, 12:21 P.M. – CVS officials today announced that a total of 36 stores in Virginia will begin offering COVID-19 vaccinations Feb. 11 – eight more than the company had announced originally. Locally, stores in Richmond (which may include Henrico); Mechanicsville; and Midlothian are shown as being among that list, though no specific store locations have yet been announced.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE: Feb. 2, 2:23 P.M. – CVS Health will begin offering COVID-19 vaccinations at 28 of its Virginia stores, including some in Metro Richmond, Feb. 11, the company and federal officials announced Feb. 2.

Those eligible for Virginia’s Phase 1A and 1B inoculations who want to be considered for inoculations at CVS must register at https://www.cvs.com/immunizations/covid-19-vaccine?icid=cvs-home-hero1-banner-1-coronavirus-vaccine, or through the CVS Pharmacy app, or by contacting CVS Customer Service (800) 746-7287.

CVS spokeswoman Amy Thibault told the Citizen that registration for Virginia stores could open as soon as Feb. 9, the same date on which the locations of those stores are expected to be announced.

Walk-in vaccinations without an appointment will not be available.

The company will offer as many as 26,000 total doses statewide, sourced from the federal pharmacy partnership program. It will expand to more locations as supplies become available. CVS officials did not identify the specific Virginia store locations that will be providing vaccinations during the first wave.

Virginia is among 11 states included in the first phase of CVS’s in-store vaccination rollout. The company eventually plans to administer 20 million to 25 million shots per month nationally.

The initial wave of participating CVS pharmacies in Virginia are in the Bedford, Blacksburg, Chesapeake, Fredericksburg, Lynchburg, Martinsville, Newport News, Norfolk, Richmond, Roanoke, Stafford and Virginia Beach regions.

Other states in which CVS will begin in-store vaccinations are California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, South Carolina and Texas.
