CrossOver Healthcare Ministry will honor four healthcare champions from the local community at its 2023 Compassionate Care Awards Oct. 19, presented by Bon Secours.

The event will be held at The Jefferson and hosted by Isaac and Susan Wornom. More than 300 guests are expected to attend to honor Bob Burton, Gigi deBlois, Mark deBlois, and Linda Pinsky, in recognition of their work supporting CrossOver's mission to provide healthcare to those most in need.

Bob Burton has volunteered as an eye technician in CrossOver's eye clinic for the past eight years. For the past three years, he has fundraised for CrossOver by painting the number signs on the homes in his neighborhood. In lieu of payment, he asks his neighbors to make a contribution to CrossOver, and to date has raised almost $15,000.

Gigi deBlois and Mark deBlois met as college classmates in Michigan. They married, then matched as a couple to the Medical College of Virginia in pathology and orthopedics, respectively. Both Gigi and Mark deBlois are retired and began volunteering at CrossOver in 2016.

From 1986 through 2010, Linda Pinsky volunteered in the CrossOver eye clinic every year on her birthday; since 2020, she has volunteered in the clinic one or more times each week. The retired optometrist also volunteers with the Medical Reserve Corps and Remote Area Medical.
