Cases of COVID-19 have been reported at four Henrico schools, bringing to 86 the total number of cases at 49 public schools in the county since Aug. 12.

The new cases were reported Nov. 24 and 27 at Hermitage High School; Nov. 25 at Greenwood Elementary School and Godwin High School; and Nov. 24 at Three Chopt Elementary School. The cases were the first for Three Chopt, the second for Greenwood and Godwin and the third for Hermitage. All earlier cases at the latter three schools also occurred this month.

The two recent Hermitage cases occurred in people last in the building Nov. 10 and 20; the latter was associated with the child care program taking place at the school. The Greenwood and Godwin cases involved people last in those buildings Nov. 19, while the Three Chopt case involved someone last at the school Nov. 10.

Henrico schools remain open for limited in-person learning. Today was to be the day that elementary schools reopened for in-person learning for pre-k through second-grade students who opted to return, but Superintendent Amy Cashwell opted earlier this month to delay that step until mid-January, citing rising COVID case counts in the county and region.
